Program elements are required to prevent potential hazards related to the respirator's use. In any workplace where respirators are required to defend the health of the employee or whenever respirators are required by the employer, then this employer shall establish and implement a written respiratory protection program with procedures. The program shall be updated as required to reflect any worksite changes and should include the following.

-How to inspect, put on and remove, use, and check this seals of respirators.
-What the procedures are needed for upkeep and storage of the respirator.
-The way to recognize medical symptoms and signs that might limit or prevent this effective use of respirators, prior to requiring the employee to use a respirator at work.
-Changes at work that may render a specific kind of respirator obsolete.
-Cartridge Usage and Change out plan for each type of hazard.
